"Poor Things" had its worldwide premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival where it was awarded the Golden Lion, the top prize at the festival. Ever since, it has been getting rave reviews from critics about the performances, story, and the marvelous crafts that are on display. Academy Award-nominated editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis, a longtime friend of Yorgos Lanthimos and editor on "Poor Things," was kind enough to spend some time talking with me about his excellent work on the film. You can listen to the interview below. Please be sure to check out the film, which is in select theaters December 8th, everywhere December 22nd. Thank you, and enjoy!
Thank you to Searchlight Pictures and Mr. Mavropsaridis for their time and make sure to check out one of my favorite films of the year coming to a theater near you December 22nd, 2023!
Synopsis | From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.
